HTC One M8 Eye specs, camera, price and release date

HTC has announced that it will be holding an event entitled “Double Exposure” on October 8 and one of the devices that will supposedly be launched will be the HTC One M8 Eye, a variation of the HTC One M8. We should also see the HTC Eye, a camera mount similar to GoPro be announced, as well as a selfie phone, according to rumors. Some say that we might actually see the Nexus 9 get announced on October 8, but we think an October 16 launch alongside the Nexus 6 would be more appropriate.

The HTC One M8 Eye should come with significant improvements to the original models 4 MP ultrapixel camera. According to rumors, the HTC One M8 will sport a 13 MP Duo Camera so that users and smartphone photography enthusiasts can enjoy higher quality pictures and depth sensing technology at the same time. The ultrapixel camera on the HTC One M8 Eye will allow for brighter, more detailed pictures and will significantly improve low-light shooting.
TENAA, China’s FCC has just certified the HTC One M8 Eye, so the phone is pretty much a confirmed deal. The HTC One M8 will sport a 5 inch display with a 1080*1920 resolution, 5 MP front facing camera and the same specs as the HTC One M8. A Snapdragon 801 quad core CPU will be powering the device, backed by an Adreno 330 GPU, 2 GB RAM and either 16 or 32 GB internal storage expandable via microSD card.
So far rumors say that the HTC One M8 Eye will first be introduced to Chinese and Indian markets, but will hopefully hit the U.S. as well. Neither HTC or TENAA has said anything about price, but we suppose the HTC One M8 will retail for around the same price as the original, somewhere near the $600 mark. We could nonetheless be treated to a price increase as per the improved camera that will rival that on the upcoming Oppo N3, but hopefully HTC will be keeping things simple.
Since the Chinese market has more of a flare for phablets and selfie phones, the HTC One M8 Eye should fare pretty well on the market. A phablet sized selfie phone would have been an even better idea for the Chinese customers, since they are used to sporting 7 inch smartphones, but I’m sure the HTC One M8 Eye will be well appreciated.
