BlackBerry Z3 vs Huawei Ascend P7 – Gorgeous Specs Comparison

In this article we are comparing devices manufactured by two brands at total opposite sides of the market. On one hand, we have BlackBerry which needs no introduction, as its devices has made a name for themselves. Those who use BlackBerry devices tend to stick with them, thus BlackBerry has its own devoted fanbase. On the other hand, there is Huawei, who is newer in the smartphone market and seeks to make a name for itself. So far so good, as it has released a few devices that propelled it up in tops alongside the big players. Let’s see if BlackBerry still has what it takes, and if Huawei cand stand up to the challenge.

Design

The Z3 has taken a step back from BlackBerry’s traditional approach, and ditched the QWERTY keyboard that characterizes the brand, showing that they can adjust to times and trends. The QWERTY-less smartphone measures 5.51 x 2.87 x 0.36inches, making it bigger than he Huawei P7 which measures 5.50 x 2.71 x 0.26 inches. Its 164 grams also make the Z3 heavier when compared with the P7 which weighs 124 grams.

Display

There is a 5 inch display for both devices, but they are far from identical. The Z3 comes with a 540 x 960 resolution and a pixel density of 220 ppi, while the P7 packs a 1080 x 1920 resolution and a much higher pixel density as well, of 445 ppi. As far as screens are concerned, the newcomer Huawei seems to have taken the lead.

Hardware

The Huawei P7 has a1.8 GHz quad core processor, which is superior to BlackBerry’s 1.2 GHz dual core processing unit, according to GSM Arena. The RAM is also in favor of the P7, which has 2 GB. The BlackBerry Z3 has 1.5 GB of RAM.

The camera department is another where the Huawei outclasse BlackBerry, as it features a 13 MP lens. The BlackBerry settles for a 5 MP shooter on the rear. The BlackBerry also has a 1.1 MP front facing camera, while the P7 comes with 8 MP on the front panel. Both devices are capable however of recording  1080p video. Both also feature  LED flash.

Both devices come with a 2500 mAh battery but apparently provide different capacities. The Huawei P7 is expected to sustain the device’s life for 22 hours while the BlackBerry can only do that for 15.5 hours.

Software

This is where the devices really hop on different paths, as the Huawei P7 sticks to the popular Android operating system from Google, while the BlackBerry Z3 chose to use its home made OS, BlackBerry 10 OS.

Conclusion

Although both device would be great to have, the Huawei Ascend P7 definitely imposes in this comparison, outclassing the BlackBerry handset at every step.
